The program teaches children the necessary skills to save themselves from drowning. With over 30 years of teaching experience and close to 10,000 children taught, SwimKids of Georgia offers unparalleled knowledge and experience when it comes to swimming instruction and survival swimming.

The added benefit of increasing self-esteem and independence in children while bringing relief and confidence to parents, not just meeting their expectations but exceeding them, brings the staff of SwimKids of Georgia great satisfaction. Teaching children to save their lives is our number one priority.

At SwimKids of Georgia, we teach aquatic survival to children age 6 months to 4 years. This program offers private 1:1 lessons of 10 minutes each, 4 times a week with an emphasis on positive reinforcement and verbal and physical instruction. Tailored to the individual needs of the student, the lessons may take up to 6 weeks or so, depending on the child’s abilities.

This program focuses on gently introducing children to water with short repetitive lessons, building trust with the instructor and slowly teaching them to reactively roll onto their back and float, flip back on to their stomachs and swim to exit the water. By breaking down such a big task into small pieces, retention is higher, and it has proven to be a very successful method ensuring your child learns to swim~float~swim in a few weeks. Most children finish in 6 weeks.*

Toddlers that are walking will learn the entire Swim~Float~Swim sequence. These lessons may be lengthened depending on your child’s age and ability.

*There are always exceptions to the number of classes as children adapt and learn at different paces.

Private lessons are scheduled according to your family’s needs  and our instructors’ availability, by our experienced front desk staff. Once our personalized programs are explained to you and all your questions are answered we will find the perfect instructor and time slot for you.

                YOUTH SURVIVAL

This program is for children age 4 and above who do not know how to swim or have previously attended swim lessons but have not necessarily learned to swim.

The goal of this class is to teach older non-swimming children aquatic survival, which is the core of all our swimming programs and not taught in a traditional swim school setting. We teach the swim-float-swim progression that is taught to our younger students. Our older swimmers usually grasp the swim-float-swim concept very quickly. We then incorporate breath control and proper kicking into the lesson before moving them onto our stroke school.

We recommend students in this group to come twice weekly for 20-minute sessions.

Private lessons are scheduled according to your family’s needs  and our instructors’ availability, by our experienced front desk staff. Once our personalized programs are explained to you and all your questions are answered we will find the perfect instructor and time slot for you.

“LET’S ADAPT” SWIM KIDS ADAPTIVE AQUATICS PROGRAM

SwimKids of Georgia is dedicated to teaching all children aquatic survival skills and fostering a love for recreational swimming, including children with all aspects of special needs.

Our program is intended to teach children and adults of all ages and abilities the life-saving skills of swim-float-survive. Working with children who have special needs takes an instructor who understands that each child learns differently, and it may take a different approach for those within the spectrum or with other physical or emotional needs. Our instructors have been trained in traditional and non-traditional methods to ensure your children’s success and enjoyment in the water.

We provide a secure, safe, reassuring, and inclusive environment for all of our children. Once your children can pass our test, we meld them into our Fun Group or Stroke School Program, giving them a sense of empowerment as well as that of ‘fitting in’.

As an organization that strongly focuses on water safety and survival, we believe that every child should have the opportunity to benefit from these fundamental skills and enjoy the water in a safe and comfortable environment.

                AFTER SURVIVAL

                AQUABABIES

This is a parent-assisted program recommended for children 11 months to 2.6 years old. Classes take place once per week for 30 minutes and are parent assisted.

Our AquaBabies classes are for the under 2.6 swimmers and their parents. This is our platform for teaching our parents to play in the water the correct way with their little swimmers. This program offers swimming instruction that promotes water safety and fun.

                FUN GROUPS

The “Fun” has begun groups, for skilled swimmers - AFTER mastering, swim~float~survive, your children are now ready to have some fun! With a maximum of 4 children, age and skill-appropriate group lessons are essential for continuing the confidence and skill growth of your swimmers. This program is recommended for children age 2.6 to 4 years, once or twice per week, for 30 minutes.

These group lessons offer a fun and nurturing learning environment that is suitable for new swimmers. In FUN groups, which are no longer parent assisted, children use their newly learned independent swimming skills to discover how much fun water-related activities can be, while still learning new skills to add to their swimming repertoire. Part of the continued learning experience includes breath control, proper kicking, proper body alignment, and introduction to basic swim strokes.

Private lessons are scheduled according to your family’s needs  and our instructors’ availability, by our experienced front desk staff. Once our personalized programs are explained to you and all your questions are answered we will find the perfect instructor and time slot for you.

                TRANSITION

By this stage, your children are much more comfortable in the water and are on their way to learning swimming movement, floating, and breath control. Transition classes are designed for children 4 years and older. Here, they begin to learn proper breathing, kicking, and arm movement. During the Transition classes, students start swimming further distances for longer periods of time; this is the step before our stroke school and bridges the private or fun groups to the stroke school.

                STROKE SCHOOL

This program caters to children 4 years and older. Classes are 45 minutes in length, 2 to 3 days a week.

Swimmers begin to develop proper body posture, breath control, kicks, and front and back streamline. Once a student has mastered these skills, they proceed to stroke development. Through a series of fun drills, we break down all four competitive strokes into individual moves that are more easily learned, and then combine the individual moves together to more efficiently and effectively develop the proper stroke(s).

                INSTRUCTOR TRAINING

Survival swim specialist Nadyne Siegel-Brown has taught close to 10,000 children to swim and has trained swim school instructors across the US. Nadyne is also the author of the Survival Swim Training manual used across the country to teach these skills.

Across the US, aquatic professionals with decades of experience in training instructors have teamed up to formulate a teaching methodology. At SwimKids of Georgia, each apprentice instructor will be provided a minimum of 20 hours per week of hands-on, in-water experience with a variety of children age 6 months and older, for over a 6-week period. Our trainees are encouraged to stay in the pool as long as they want and work with other members of the SwimKids staff for different points of view, as well as to learn how to take the survival program further.

The training program includes instruction in teaching breath control, propulsion, floating, rollover breathing, aquatic survival skills, water safety, and troubleshooting problems with students of all ages.

The academic areas covered are child development and behavioral techniques as they apply to teaching infants and young children to swim and survive in the water. Also included is a self-study course on anatomy and physiology, including safety guidelines for these swimming lessons. New instructors receive a certificate of completion of their apprenticeship, emphasizing all the in-water and academic work that they have completed. CPR and first aid is a necessary requirement and must be maintained yearly.

By the end of your training, an apprentice is expected to have successfully taught about swim-float-survival to a minimum of 18 children of varying ages.

                The Instructor Training Includes

                • Certificate of Completion
                • Opportunities for Continuing Education and Mentoring Support
                • Enhanced Marketing Opportunities
